Family Councils

Family Councils are possible in all nursing homes. A Family Council consists of friends and family members of residents in nursing homes. The council provides families and residents the opportunity to express a unified voice to promote the highest quality of life in nursing homes. Citizens for Better Care works with family members and friends of nursing home residents and facility staff to create and maintain councils. To read more…

We will also assist existing councils in creating Regional Family Councils. Regional Councils offer members of different nursing homes the opportunity to exchange ideas and discover solutions to common problems. Our Detroit office holds a regional family council meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at the Hannon House for volunteers and family council members in that area. A light supper is provided and a small donation is accepted to offset the cost of speakers and the meal. Information exchanges are regular features of these meetings.
